I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with R Neary Motors. I put a deposit down on a 132-D-7727 Ford Focus, with Derek the salesman, who assured me the car would be ready in three days. Unfortunately, that promise was never fulfilled. The car was consistently not ready, and communication from Derek was sporadic at best. Each time I managed to get in touch, I was given the same excuse that the car would be ready the following day, which never happened. After several days without a car, they provided me with a temporary vehicle 171-D-22010, but only after I was required to pay the full amount. The lack of communication continued, and I found myself having to constantly chase them for updates. After 11 days of this frustrating back-and-forth, I requested a refund. Ryan Neary was exceptionally rude and unprofessional during this process. I did not receive my refund easily and it took over 5 days of chasing him to receive it. In my experience, both Derek and Ryan were highly unprofessional, uncommunicative, and misleading. If you are considering doing business with Ryan Neary Motors, I strongly advise you to reconsider. There are numerous negative reviews online that reflect similar experiences. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this dealership if possible.

Bought a 2012 black skoda superb estate reg 12d36696 on the 1st of March this year from Derek in nearys motors and had nothing but problems with it. Brakes had failed on the car twice, the electrics didn't seem to be working right as it was telling me that none of the lights were working. Phoned Derek about it told me to get in contact with his mechanic Keith which took almost 3 weeks to get in contact with. Eventually got the car up to Keith who had it for over 3 weeks trying to patch it up but couldn't. I was also waiting on the tax book and to my surprise theres no tax book to it. I also found out that the car was involved in some sort of collision. I told Derek i wasn't happy with it and wanted my money back. He told me on numerous occasions that I would receive my money but never did. This is a man who told me that he sells anything from 10-14 cars a week but still cant pay me back and that they were suppose to have a great reputation. Since then he now has my car sold on to another customer who doesn't even realise the tricky situation there in now. I now have solicitors involved reported it to the ccpc as he was investigated a few years ago for selling crashed cars. I now have it also reported the gardaì who has it down as stolen so whoever is driving it will be arrested for it no blame to them. I have children with disabilities and these people are well aware of this and dont give a damn. Ryan phoned me yesterday and asked me to take down the review as he was suppose to be shocked and horrified of what was going on and didn't no anything about it. Its a terrible thing to have a bussiness and dosent even know whats going on in the company i find that very hard to believe. Ryan also said that he would reimburse my money in full including solicitors fees and car hire fees and surprise surprise still no payment. I would advise anyone who is buying a car to please read all reviews these are not people to buy a car off of. There gangsters out the door. If people check Boards.ie reviews you will see all the bad reviews, that's the next place I'm posting this. It's also up on Facebook been shared around. So buyers beware....

First off, I came across R Neary Motors via DoneDeal mid november 2023, which was my first mistake, as you won't find Google reviews for this dealership. What I have to say next is a warning to potential customers. I saw a car I liked on DoneDeal, and because it was local, I decided to pay a visit. I took it for a test drive and was happy with the car. From this point on, the experience was a disaster. As a business, they fail at the most basic level of customer service and should not be selling cars. After deciding to purchase the car and dealing with what appeared to be the only sales representative, Derek, I went to their office to finalize the purchase. I secured the car with a €500 deposit. Derek took out what can only be described as a scrapbook, wrote down “€500 deposit taken,” but failed to provide a receipt—strange! He also assured me that a full service would be done before the car was handed over. Additionally, he mentioned that an NCT would be carried out, even though the car already had an NCT valid until 2026—another red flag! At the time, I thought this was odd but didn’t realize it was the first of many lies. The car was delivered to my house on Friday. However, by Saturday, it had broken down and had to be returned—so much for the promised service! Another lie. A week later, the car was returned to me. By now, red flags were everywhere. Christmas came and went, and by January, after still not receiving the logbook, I called R Neary Motors. On the call, Derek claimed—quite conveniently—that he was just at that very moment putting pen to paper to complete the paperwork for my car. Coincidence? Suspicious? After doing some research, I found out that if you have proof of payment, you can tax a car without the logbook. So, I went to my local tax office, only to discover that R Neary Motors did not even own my car! I called Derek. He acted outraged and promised that if I didn’t have the logbook in my hand by Wednesday (five days from our call), he would give me a full refund. Strange, considering that the change of ownership is processed online instantly! At this point, I realized the mistake I had made buying from R Neary Motors, especially after reading other online reviews about them. I now realised that communication with that meant more lies. I called the tax office again, and they advised me that my best option was to fill out a Declaration of Ownership form. This process involved: 1. Finding my local Peace Commissioner to declare that my purchase was legal by signing and stamping the form. 2. Finding a willing dealership to verify that the registration and VIN number matched, then also sign and stamp the form. 3. Sending everything to the motor tax office to take legal possession of a car I had purchased two months prior. This entire process took nearly 10 days, and during that time, R Neary Motors had done absolutely nothing to transfer ownership. No surprise here. So, before you buy a car, ask yourself: is this the experience you want? Do yourself a favor—go elsewhere!

Just collected my Renault from here. Delt with both Ryan and Derek. Great service, great prices, very friendly to deal with and car was ready to go when I arrived. Could not fault them. So Far so Good.

Well it's my turn to leave an honest review. Since my last review was too good and too fast I had to delete it. Everything is fine until they get your money, after that everything just goes to hell. The story starts with us wanting the exact same car, we bought a BMW 530e from another dealer a few years ago and wanted a second car exactly like it. We found it at this dealership (OMG why didn't we just wait for a reliable dealer to find us this car). And like I said everything is fine and fast until they get their first cash in hand. We looked at the car on a Sunday, applied for financing, got approved on Thursday and got the car on Saturday. Amazing right? Nope! I thought we were going to go to the office, sign papers and leave a deposit (like the last dealership) but nope! Ryan said the car would be delivered and a reliable driver would pick up the money. Wow, what service! Nope! The driver counted the money in front of us and did not give ANY papers, documents, logbook or even a receipt. The guy just took 8000 euros, put it in his pocket and drove away. We did not even have time to say anything or understand what was happening. You need some kind of guarantee that you took 8000 euros. Agree, this is a lot of money. So that you understand, we are from another country and did not quite understand whether this is right or not. We received the financing documents in three days. Then everything goes very interesting ... It turns out that "NCT was handed over", they indicate this in every ad, they did not hand it over. Ryan blamed one of the employees. He promised to pay us NCT at our place of residence (Cavan). To get it, I had to ask him to do this almost every day for two weeks. He lied. The car documents did not arrive for a long time and I asked Ryan again what was going on. He said to wait, it's normal. We waited a long time, drove all this time without a tax disc and car documents. He lied, blamed it on some girl from the office and everything else. You see, we bought the car on November 11, received the documents on February 2. And after I told him that I hired a translator and ordered a lawyer and warned the financial company that financed us that we would file a lawsuit to return the car and terminate the contract for failure to fulfill obligations. We pay a lot of money and do not receive anything confirming that this is our car. And lo and behold, after that Ryan started doing something and not lying, promised that we would have the documents within a week and he would compensate me for the costs of the translator and lawyer and the road tax (how generous), but no. I asked him to just pay the road tax and forget this story. And now, today is February 22. Let me remind you that we registered the car on November 11. The road tax was not paid, Ryan lied three times that he did it, and again blamed the girl from the office. Funny. he reminds how many cars he sold, that he is a businessman, calls us "my friend, wonderful family" it does not work! when you buy a car, you want to be treated with minimal maintenance. dealing with this garage is not maintenance, but a bunch of nerves, problems. I am very sorry that the guys do not understand how terrible it is. with such an approach they should be blacklisted. and I am very interested in who is that girl from the office who is always to blame 😂
