My dad has always sworn by Nissan cars so naturally my first car was a Nissan. However after my experiences with John McCabe I can safely say I will never be back. I bought a car back in 2023 with John McCabe and while test driving the car noticed water leaking from the sun visors. I mentioned this to the salesman and he assured me that this would be looked into so I bought the car. This issue reoccurred whenever it was cold and I brought it back into them to have it looked at. Apparently this was not covered under the extended warranty I paid extra for and I was charged for them to once again find no issue. They dried off the car and remarked that there was a lot of moisture and left it there claiming there was no issue with the seal or anything. I let this go but after my last visit I decided to leave a review. I went in for my yearly service expecting to pay a lot of money based on the year before being charged €265 for a service and to fix my license plate. So you can imagine my shock when I was told after the service that the price would be €405. When I questioned this price I was told that they are way more expensive than other mechanics because they use “genuine parts”, and “high quality oil” which fine but that can not cost €405. I asked for an itemized list of all the costs which was made up for me and the service desk associate said he would “see what he could do for me”. He “brought the price down to €410” because apparently the price of €405 I was told on the phone didn’t include the wipers getting replaced which was about €90. He then told me that my next service will just be a minor one and will cost €275 At which point I told him I will be going elsewhere. The breakdown of costs was: €221.89 for the “full service”, oil filter was €15.10, air filter was €25.19, pollen filter was €21.04, oil and this is the funny one was €45.40, gasket was €3.58, screen wash was €3.97, the wipers in total equated to €77.66. So just be aware if you decide to go with John McCabe, there could be issues with the car you buy but they “can’t find them”, they will charge you to not fix those issues despite a warranty and they’re services in the space of a year went from €250 to €405 and they don’t tell you the price until after the service.
Bought my car off them and I have to say Robert who I dealt with was very professional and easy to talk about what I was looking for. I got my car delivered a day early which was brilliant. Would recommend them.5 stars from me.
They did a great deal when I traded in my old car for a new one. They are friendly, welcoming and professional and I look forward to going back again next time I need to change. Highly recommend them...thanks Robert!
These guys went above and beyond what you would expect when buying a car. Extremely professional, but also good fun to deal with. Thanks to Noreen, Walter and Robert for all there hard work!
If I could give them minus 5 stars I would !!!! I would not recommend at all, dreadful service bought a car for my 18 year old in march and had terrible problems with it even in first months of having it and they offered half the money back !!!! Claimed to have serviced it and nothing wrong took it to independent garage who found two problems ! They never called back, worst service ever experienced and after they said they fixed the handbrake this has just failed on her again ! Asked for copies of services they did on the car and couldn’t produce them. Left the car there and said I do not want it they didn’t call after 4 weeks I had to just go get it … getting legal advice now
