See all Motoring NewsElectrification is coming to a wider range of models than ever, and 2024 will see a new wave of cars being launched with varying degrees of electrical assistance. Here we run down the hybrid, plug-in and all-electric models that we're looking forward to in 2024.
Alfa Romeo small SUV
The as-yet unnamed small SUV will slot into the range beneath the Tonale, and will share a platform with the Peugeot 2008 and Opel Mokka, so there should be a full electric version at the very least.
Audi A6 e-tron
While the rival BMW i5 arrives later in 2023, Audi's new saloon won't appear until the following year. It will share its electric running gear with the Q6 e-tron SUV, so quattro four-wheel drive will still be offered.
Citroen C3 Aircross
A second-generation small SUV follows on from the new C3 arriving in 2023 and, like that car, it will move over to the same platform used by the Peugeot 2008, which means a full EV will be offered for the first time.
Cupra Tavascan
The Spanish sporting brand's second EV will be larger than the Born, and will offer an all-electric alternative to the Formentor.
Cupra Terramar
Plug-in hybrid power will provide the motive force for the Terramar, a five-seat SUV that will be built alongside the platform-sharing Audi Q3 in Hungary.
Fiat 600
The next-generation small SUV from Fiat will replace both the 500L and 500X, and the Italian firm has decided to go with a name upgrade to signify its position relative to the 500 city car in the line-up.
Jeep Recon
Another all-electric Jeep is on the way based on the latest Stellantis EV running gear. What's more, it's said to have the same off-road ability as a Wrangler.
Mercedes CLE
The German firm will replace the C- and E-Class coupes and convertibles with a single model in 2024. The CLE will have the usual AMG variants, and expect plug-in hybrid tech, too.
Mercedes EQG
The G-Wagen for the 21st Century combines rugged looks and off-road ability with electric drive and even the ability to ‘tank turn’
MINI Aceman
With the new Countryman for 2024 growing in size, it has left space in the MINI line-up for a smaller model, and the Aceman will be all-electric, too.
Peugeot 3008/5008
An all-new third-generation 3008 arrives in 2024, and this time there will be hybrid and all-electric versions. The seven-seat 5008 will also get an electric variant, while sibling firm Opel will get a new Grandland based on the same running gear.
Polestar 5
Polestar is set to expand its all-electric offering with a halo model to rival the Porsche Taycan, complete with a near-900hp powertrain.
Renault 4 & 5
A pair of all-new small Renaults arrive in 2024, both offering retro-inspired looks and cost-effective electric motoring.
Toyota C-HR
The next-generation C-HR won't go all-electric just yet, but a plug-in powertrain will appear for the first time.
Volkswagen ID.7
Sleek hatchback model will offer a slippery shape to make the most of its all-electric powertrain.
Volkswagen Tiguan
One of VW's best-selling models is given a complete overhaul in 2024, with hybrid powertrains leading the way.
Volvo EX90
