Powerscourt Hotel in Wicklow played stage to an exciting event held by Mercedes-Benz Ireland, where it reflected on what has been a very successful 2017 for the brand thus far, and it also showcased some of the exciting models which it has coming on stream for 2018.
The sun was shining on what was a beautiful autumn’s day, and Carzone was in attendance to experience some of the exciting models on display including the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the exhilarating E43 AMG super saloon.
Mercedes-Benz Ireland was keen to point out that it is enjoying a 32% increase in new model sales so far in 2017 compared with the same period last year, despite the fact that there has been a 10% decrease in overall new car sales in Ireland during the period. The German Manufacturer is hoping to continue this success for the foreseeable and will be launching some 18 new models worldwide over the next 8 years including a brand new all-electric EQ range.
There was an impressive range of models available to test drive on the day including the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the E-Class Cabriolet and the C350E Plug-In Hybrid. Our first drive of the day was the C-Class Estate in 2.1-litre diesel guise and AMG Line specification, and it was highly refined with an impressive interior and superb cruising abilities.
Next up was the Mercedes-AMG E43 4Matic, the high performance version of the new E-Class with a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engine that churns out over 400bhp. As you might expect, it’s incredibly exhilarating to drive with hair-raising acceleration and a superb-sounding exhaust note, dispatching 0-100km/h in just over four and a half seconds.
Combining sporty muscular looks and a race-focused interior, the E43 AMG will ‘appeal to those searching for a car that combines everyday practicality with unparalleled performance’ according to Ciaran Allen, Sales Manager at Mercedes-Benz Ireland. We look forward to bringing you a full in-depth review of this and many more Mercedes-Benz models over the coming months.
