Hi, I have a Range Rover sport 20067 SE, on way to work and it just died. Initial investigation pointing towards timing belt / tensioner failure. Timing belt changed at 120km, current Km 160km. Will insurance cover loss/ damage?
Hi there,
Your regular insurance won't cover mechanical failure - that's only for accidents and crashes. If you have an aftermarket warranty it may be covered seeing as you correctly followed the service schedule, but many of those policies will swerve around so-called 'consumables.'
The best thing to do is to deal directly with the garage that did the work. Clearly if you've had catastrophic engine failure like that, something is awry, but the only problem is that you've done a lot of miles since so they may simply be able to say that they can't cover any damage that far down the line.
