Will a dealer register a UK import?
If I buy a car from a dealer and its been imported from the uk, will the vehicle be registered and on Irish plates when I buy it or will I have to register it and pay vrt?

Yes, they should register the car and put Irish plates on it. In fact, make sure the price you are quoted includes all of that.
