In the UK, it would be Group 11, which is pretty low-cost in insurance terms, but sadly here in Ireland things are not so simple nor organised. There are no insurance groups in Ireland – insurers look at both driver and car together when assessing risk factors, so your own age, experience and no claims history is as, if not more, important than the car itself. It’s an arcane, byzantine system with little transparency and next to no accountability, but it’s the one we’re stuck with I’m afraid.
