It is a generic error suggesting that the car needs to be plugged into a diagnostic computer to determine exactly what is causing it. However, in our experience, it often comes from a fault in the bonnet catch, where the sensor fails and does not know that the bonnet is closed correctly. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole catch, unfortunately. 

Before you do that, I recommend you verify the above with a good mechanic.
