If you’re referring to the diesel models, then they all use basically the same 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, but in different states of tune. So, a 316d will have 110hp, a 318d will have 140hp and a 320d will have 190hp. Of the three, the 320d is our favourite, but the other two make entirely sensible choices if you need to trim your budget a little. I’d generally lean towards the 316d, as it’s cheaper than the 318d and not really a lot slower in real terms.
