Mechanically it seems to be quite a robust engine, but there are loads of known niggles with it, much of it relating to the fuel system. Check that any you are looking at runs properly and without excess noise, from idle to motorway speed. Also, the gearbox is known to develop issues resulting in grinding in fourth gear that are not cheap to fix...
