The only regularly occurring reliability issues we’ve heard of with the Q5 are the dual-mass flywheel (watch for excessive vibration with the car idling in neutral), the diesel exhaust filter (a lot of people bought Q5s and then didn’t do enough mileage to keep the filter clean) and some water leaks from the heater unit. Generally speaking, Audis are at the better end of the reliability scale, so as long as you buy one with a full service history and keep it in good condition you shouldn’t have many problems.
