You should have the 1.3-litre petrol (5.1 litres/100km, 55.4mpg), if you’ve got an automatic – it was a six-speed unit in 2009. That means, at its absolute best with no air conditioning running, you would get a maximum of 19.6 kilometres on one litre of fuel. Air conditioning is said to sap between eight and ten per cent from any vehicle’s consumption figures, so 17.6-18km on a litre of fuel is our reckoning.
