Hi there,
It depends on the year of production of the engine, and which version of the engine. The regular 1.4 TFSI used a timing chain for 2010-2015, but the 2012-2015 version using cylinder-on-demand tech (140hp) actually had a timing belt instead. There was a facelift for the A1 in 2015 and from then on, all versions of the 1.4 TFSI engine used timing belts.
